What is Gridify?

Gridify (the Image Grid Generator) is a powerful tool designed to arrange one or more images into a perfectly aligned grid on a specified paper size. Users can control the dimensions of the paper and the individual images, and the tool automatically calculates how many images will fit. The final output can be downloaded as a high-quality PDF or Word document, ready for printing.

History of this Feature

The need to print multiple copies of an image on a single sheet of paper is common, whether for creating passport photos, business cards, or photo sheets. This was often a cumbersome process involving manual layout in word processors or design software. Gridify was created to automate and simplify this task. It provides a simple, web-based interface that handles all the calculations and layout, making it easy for anyone to create professional-looking print sheets in seconds.

Who Commonly Uses This Feature?

This tool is widely used by photographers creating contact sheets, individuals printing sheets of passport-sized photos, crafters and small business owners creating product labels or stickers, and teachers preparing materials for class. Essentially, anyone who needs to print multiple, uniformly-sized images on a single page will find this tool incredibly useful.

How to Use the Image Grid Generator (Gridify)

Gridify helps you create perfectly aligned grids of images, ready for printing on various paper sizes.

  1. Upload Your Image(s): Use the upload area to select one or more images. You can drag and drop files or click to select them.
  2. Choose Paper Size: Select your desired paper size from the dropdown menu (e.g., A4, Short, Long). If you need custom dimensions, select "Custom" and enter the width and height in inches.
  3. Set Image Size: Define the dimensions for each individual image in the grid by setting the "Image Width" and "Image Height" in inches. The grid layout will automatically update to show how many images can fit.
  4. Select Distribution: Choose your "Image Distribution" method.
    • Repeat First Image: Uses only the first uploaded image to fill the entire grid. Perfect for passport photos or identical labels.
    • Use All Images: Cycles through all your uploaded pictures. Ideal for creating contact sheets.
  5. (Optional) Crop Your Image: For a more precise selection, click the "Crop" button on any uploaded image preview to open the cropping tool.
  6. Download Your Grid: Once the preview on the right looks correct, click "Download PDF" or "Download Word" to get your final document.
