What is the Paluwagan Calculator?
The Paluwagan Calculator is a tool designed to manage a "paluwagan," a traditional Filipino savings circle. Users can enter the names of the participants, the contribution amount per cycle, the payout schedule (weekly or monthly), and a start date. The tool then generates a fair, randomized payout schedule for the entire group.
History of this Feature
Savings circles are a form of informal group savings common in many cultures around the world (known as "susu" in West Africa, "tandas" in Latin America, etc.). In the Philippines, this is called a "paluwagan." Traditionally, the payout order is determined by drawing lots. This digital tool was created to modernize and simplify that process, ensuring a completely unbiased and random order for payouts, which helps build trust and transparency within the group.
Who Commonly Uses This Feature?
This tool is primarily used by groups of friends, family members, or coworkers in the Filipino community and beyond who participate in savings circles. It's a convenient way for the group's organizer to create and share a fair schedule without the need for manual lot-drawing.
